They look like Model 10's, and are very similar, but predate the Model 10 by over 50 years. Your gun looks way newer than 1953 overall, in any case. There's a 5 digit number just below the "Model 36" that you can see in the pic. There's a different number that start with 3 letters on the bottom of the grip between the "stocks". You might want to check and make sure the ejector rod is screwed in all the way, it can back out a turn or two and sometimes cause the gun to lock up. Inside the box is a stamped date that says April 15, 1955 the serial # is 3K52042. This revolver , other than some light drag marks on the cylinder, appears new so I have trouble believing it was made anywhere near 1955, although the owners manual looks vintage.The serial number is on the bottom of the grip. You might want to check and make sure the ejector rod is screwed in all the way, it can back out a turn or two and sometimes cause the gun to lock up. If it is a 1981 model like the serial indicates, it has a reverse thread.The Model 29-3 came out in 1982 and this was a sad day for Smith and Wesson. The Model 29 continued and the Model 29-7 ushered in the era of MiM parts. Under no circumstances should you ever buy a Model 29-7.
