It's whether her husband is so psychotically cruel that he'd intentionally torment kids who just lost their father, or if he is just too dumb to realize that he unintentionally tormented said kids and absolutely should apologize profusely, repeatedly, and ASAP. An AP is less than in the hierarchy in this situation, they have no legal or moral rights, that's what one accepts when they are the AP.
